I've gained most of my experience (technical and personal) abroad. Working with non-profits and teaching in Beijing, studying and working in Singapore, and launching companies of my own in Vietnam (and back home in Cincinnati) has taught me that nothing is too difficult nor impossible to do without a little effort and creativity.
Eventually technology grows, too, and with libraries and frameworks becoming more important than ever (don't forget the ever-changing social framework,) the need to learn more has only stoked that passion even more. I look forward to learning more with every project and with every challenge.
Rummage is an app I've been hired to pioneer the UX design for. There are countless yard, garage, and estate sales every weekend, and this app will help you find it (or let others know where yours is.) Initially for iOS, Rummage will move into Android once some of UX research is complete. Still a WIP.
friendUp is an idea a friend and I had about meeting new people out in the real world using technology. Some say it's the "tinder" of friend-making. Others say its a cool way to meet new like-minded folk. Either way, its going to be huge.
GameOn! is an app I came up with when doing an assessment for an employer. It's not "technically" my idea, but I found more interest in the UX aspect of it than I did the development aspect of it. Overall, a manager is able to update his players' stats. Thus, his players are able to interact with them and other players in the league. Could be used for... any sport.
Right-Left is an environment prototype that customizes the entire Android OS to be beneficial for the left-handed or right-handed user. While this may seem a bit inappropriate, you can imagine how often we have to drop our phones into both hands or switch to two-handed mode to get simple tasks done. I think it's ground breaking... that's kind of the definition of innovation, no? Imagine using your mobile device entirely one handed. Exactly.
ESEC.org - Working with this non-profit, we sought to utilize the fun factor when it came to imagery. One of the challenges was integrating the necessary information text and hold true to the desired intention. ESEC is incredibly awesome place to work, but there's a lot you need to know about the organization, too. That's where this site sought to bring the viewer into understanding and feeling.
Bible Society of Singapore - This site relies on WordPress, but it wasn't enough out of the box. Listening to their needs, I created a site that organizes a lot of content in a visually appealing way using JS, JQUERY, and of course PHP. Every single component on this site is accessible and editable from within the WordPress CMS to ease the burden on future webmasters. Most of the photographs were given to me, but the design elements rely on JS libraries. Since handing it over, it has since undergone some changes here and there.
MPower Magnetics - One of my first (and hopefully only) Joomla! sites. This uses PHP for its CMS and structuring and of course JS to get certain elements to work. It was a bit of a tough project trying to integrate so much text and content in a way that wouldn't feel burdensome to the user, but a little testing and revamping made it happen.
Right Hook Communications - A custom built site that uses a very custom/hacked WordPress as the CMS written in PHP. The front-end is mainly JS, AJAX, and JQUERY. This site has also undergone some visual changes since handing it over, but most of the functionality still remains.
CyberNostics - Mainly just graphic design and branding, this site uses Wix. The guys at CyberNostics are pretty technical but needed a hand with some visuals and brand direction.
